In 1961 it found its way to Plymouth Friary for a short spell, only to move up the road to Exmouth Junction in Feb 1963. From here, it worked regularly on the 'withered arm' famously pulled the RCTS 'Exmoor Ranger on 27th March 1965, from Exeter around the 'withered arm' and to Ilfracombe. Not content with that, it moved to Templecombe in June 1965 and worked the S&D until the end in March 1966, going to Cohens, Swansea for cutting up in the July. Ex loco but someone has drilled a couple of additional, very small holes for whatever reason. These could easily be filled.

£1,550

247

Carriage Destination Board BRODICK. A very interesting item which is believed to have been used on early Boat Trains to the Scottish Islands & Highlands. The board is of substantial wooden construction, 35" long x 4¾" wide with metal, reinforcing ends. It has the original white background with 2¾" black lettering. Brodick is on the Isle of Arran and is the port served by MacBrains ferries from Ardrossan. There was an early Tramway on Arran but Brodick wasn't served by it, so, it is more than likely either Highland Railway, Glasgow & South Western Railway or LNWR. There is an outside possibility that it was used on early Omnibuses on the island but the size suggests not. Certainly an historic item indeed.

This one in 1906 and finally, in 1928, Royal Scot 6148, later to be re-named The Manchester Regiment in 1935. It was also destined to be used on a rebuilt Patriot, but this never reached fruition.

Alloy Sign reads: 'Auto Ambulance Station Day And Night Service Tel 24'. Measures 20½" x 7" and is face restored, back original. Not sure where this originated from but with such a low telephone number, it could be from one of the UK Islands, or maybe just an internal number.
